Finance Officer (Contract)

About the role

The Zambia National Education Coalition (ZANEC) is seeking a Finance Officer on a contract basis to support its finance team. The role involves managing day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring compliance with ZANEC policies, and providing accurate financial information to all sections of the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Receipt and recording of funds, including project advances and unspent balances.
• Conduct petty‑cash surprise counts and verify expense documentation.
• Assist the Finance and Administration Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and donor reports.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, variance analyses and monthly aged debtor analysis.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure all transactions are entered daily.
• Prepare management, contractual financial reports and monthly payroll.
• Facilitate procurement of goods and services in line with ZANEC policies.
• Perform statutory financial obligations under Zambian law and support audit processes.

Required profile

• ACCA II, ZICA II or equivalent qualification, registered with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in an NGO or similar environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software, specifically Pastel Accounting Package.
• Solid financial analysis knowledge.
