Laboratory Chemist

About the role

Alfred H Knight is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join its General analysis laboratory in Kitwe, Zambia. The role involves conducting analytical tests, supervising laboratory staff and ensuring cost‑effective, high‑quality service for internal and external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Drive daily production, assign tasks and supervise analyst workflows to meet turnaround times.
• Enforce HSEQ regulations, conduct safety inspections and lead shift meetings.
• Maintain sample and data integrity through test result verification, complete sample tracking and QA/QC trend analysis.
• Oversee instrument calibration, daily maintenance and troubleshoot analytical equipment.
• Monitor reagent inventory, manage relationships with clients and research innovative analytical methods.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a testing laboratory.
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related chemical science.
• Member of the Chemical Society of Zambia.
• Strong communication, safety consciousness and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Analytical testing and instrument troubleshooting.
• Instrument calibration and maintenance.
• QA/QC trend analysis and sample tracking.
