Logistics Country Head – Zambia

About the role

PIL is seeking a Logistics Country Head for Zambia to lead and expand its logistics operations in the region. The role is pivotal for establishing and managing freight forwarding, contract logistics, and cross‑border services while driving business growth and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic leadership of logistics operations in Zambia, aligning with PIL’s global objectives.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities in freight forwarding and contract logistics.
• Oversee freight forwarding activities across air, sea, and land, ensuring cost‑effective movement of goods.
• Develop and manage contract logistics services, including warehousing and distribution.
• Manage cross‑border logistics compliance and seamless transportation across borders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and authorities.
• Implement supply chain best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Design integrated multimodal solutions combining land, sea, and air transport.
• Ensure P&L performance meets targets and maximize profitability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing logistics team.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of senior‑level logistics experience, with strong freight forwarding and contract logistics expertise.
• Deep knowledge of the East African logistics market, especially Zambia.
• Proven leadership and team‑building capabilities.
• Established network with service providers, regulators and customers.
• Customer‑centric mindset with ability to convert opportunities into long‑term relationships.
