Plant Controller – Wet Plant (S3)

About the role

The Plant Controller for the Wet Plant (S3) is responsible for the safety, stability and operational optimisation of the processing plant during a shift. The role monitors process performance, coordinates activities across plant areas and provides real‑time production optimisation while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operating standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain HSE standards and strict compliance with Zambian laws and company policies.
• Lead field processing supervisors and control‑room operators on shift.
• Monitor and control plant parameters to exceed KPI targets for throughput, recovery and product quality.
• Coordinate feed‑rate and ore‑quality adjustments with mining operations to optimise plant performance.
• Ensure equipment operates within defined strategies, procedures and control loops.
• Utilise plant expert control system, PLCs and in‑line instrumentation (e.g., PSI, OSA) for real‑time optimisation.
• Manage alarm systems, trend analysis, PLC bypasses and downtime reporting.
• Execute daily operating instructions and escalate deviations as needed.
• Assist with major plant shutdowns, maintenance activities and start‑ups, directing maintenance priorities.
• Coach and develop shift personnel, especially supervisors.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead shift teams in a processing plant environment.
• Strong understanding of safety, health, environment and quality regulations applicable in Zambia.
• Experience in coordinating with mining operations to align plant feed and performance.
• Capability to oversee plant shutdowns, maintenance planning and start‑up procedures.

Required skills

• Process control systems (expert control system, PLC).
• Alarm management and trend‑based operating techniques.
• In‑line instrumentation and measurement (e.g., PSI, OSA).
