Process Control Technician

About the role

The key purpose of this role is to perform optimisation and modification of process control systems for AB InBev’s Maltings plant in Zambia. You will work closely with production teams to ensure reliable automation and continuous improvement of plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Interact daily with production teams to resolve automation‑related problems and support plant improvement projects.
• Perform specialised maintenance on control and automation equipment, including calibration, complex component replacement and set‑up work.
• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC logic, and ensure availability of critical spares and backup software versions.
• Use CMMS to analyse equipment performance, manage maintenance schedules and produce automation performance reports.
• Support breakdown management, instrument set‑up for new product development, and liaise with suppliers.
• Develop and maintain SOPs/SWIs, train operations staff and contribute to maintenance budgeting.

Required profile

• Technician Diploma in Control & Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of experience as a Control & Automation/Instrumentation technician.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, team‑player attitude and drive for continuous improvement.
• Resilient, hardworking and capable of working safely in a risk‑free environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (RSBatch, InTouch).
• Knowledge of instrumentation, VSDs, Fieldbus networks (ASI, Profibus, Ethernet) and InSQL.
• Experience with CMMS, calibration, maintenance scheduling and backup software management.
• Understanding of OHS legislation and NOSA requirements.
