Relationship Officer – SME Banking

About the role

The Relationship Officer – SME Banking will support the growth of United Bank for Africa’s small‑and‑medium enterprise portfolio at the Chipata branch. You will be responsible for acquiring new business customers, reactivating dormant accounts and driving deposit liability growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare documentation for risk‑asset creation to enhance profitability.
• Aggressively market the bank’s products and services to achieve revenue targets.
• Solicit and acquire new customer relationships, focusing on deposit growth and mix.
• Reactivate dormant accounts and relationships to improve profitability.
• Make calls, visit business customers and attend meetings to build rapport.
• Implement marketing strategies and meet assigned targets.
• Process data and generate accurate reports for management.
• Facilitate and maintain effective relationships with both new and existing customers.

Required profile

• First degree with credit or better in any discipline.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant banking or financial services experience.
• Strong drive, energy and passion for business development.
• Technology‑savvy and proactive problem‑solver.
• Good understanding of the local business environment.
