S3 Engineer – Control Systems

About the role

The S3 Engineer will support the S3 Control Systems Coordinator to ensure reliable operation, optimisation and technical governance of the S3 Process Plant. This role is critical for maintaining high‑availability mining processing equipment while adhering to safety and statutory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, commission, maintain and optimise Siemens PCS7, S7‑400H, Profinet/Profibus, Scalance and related OT platforms.
• Validate system redundancy, manage configuration backups and oversee hardware/software lifecycle.
• Maintain as‑built documentation, follow change‑management procedures and conduct proactive fault finding.
• Provide C&I engineering support to sustain plant stability and performance.
• Support the Electrical Department with Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) control, excitation systems, cycloconverters and protection schemes.
• Assist with protection coordination, audits, parameter validation and ensure compliance with Zambia Mining Regulations.
• Monitor plant performance via DCS, historian and drive systems, analyse data and implement corrective improvements.

Required profile

• Strong background in industrial control systems within a high‑availability mining environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, zero‑harm culture and statutory compliance.
• Experience in root‑cause analysis, fault diagnosis and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with electrical and operations teams.
