S3 Engineer – Control Systems

About the role

The S3 Engineer will support the S3 Control Systems Coordinator to ensure reliable operation, optimisation and technical governance of the S3 Process Plant. This role focuses on Siemens PCS7 DCS, industrial networks and Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) control systems within a high‑availability mining processing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a zero‑harm safety culture, develop SWIs and ensure statutory compliance.
• Install, configure, commission, maintain and optimise Siemens PCS7, S7‑400H, Profinet/Profibus, Scalance and related OT platforms.
• Maintain as‑built documentation, perform change management and conduct proactive fault finding with root‑cause analysis.
• Provide C&I engineering support to sustain plant stability and performance.
• Support the Electrical Department with GMD control philosophy, excitation systems, cycloconverters and protection schemes.
• Assist with protection coordination, audits, parameter validation and configuration backups.
• Monitor plant performance via DCS, historian and drive systems, analyse data and implement corrective improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in control‑systems engineering within a high‑availability mining or process‑plant environment.
• Strong understanding of safety governance and statutory compliance in industrial settings.
• Ability to work onsite and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
