Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer will manage safety performance at First Quantum Minerals’ Trident operation, monitoring hazardous situations and implementing risk‑minimising measures. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations and promotes a culture of occupational health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect workplaces and equipment to verify compliance with safety standards and identify hazards.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and correct storage of dangerous materials.
• Record and report hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues, and assist in investigations.
• Conduct training sessions on health and safety practices and legislation for supervisors and workers.
• Coordinate emergency procedures, mine rescues, firefighting and first‑aid crews as required.
• Develop and maintain occupational health and safety policies, procedures and manuals.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar safety role, preferably in mining.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related mining‑relevant qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Certification and experience in First Aid.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
