Senior Engineering Manager

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Engineering Manager will lead engineering across Fixed Plant, Mobile Plant and Infrastructure at Lumwana Mining Company. The role defines engineering strategy, standards and maintenance programmes to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective asset performance supporting the production plan.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and enforce safety, health and environmental policies and ensure compliance with Zambian mining legislation.
• Set a unified engineering strategy, standards and operating rhythm for fixed and mobile assets, aligned with regional maintenance standards.
• Lead and coach the Engineering Managers for Fixed Plant and Mobile Maintenance, establishing clear performance expectations.
• Drive proactive and predictive maintenance using work management, defect elimination, asset tactics and condition monitoring.
• Plan and deliver sustaining capital programmes that support the Life-of-Mine plan and expansion projects.
• Integrate demand planning with Supply Chain to optimise stock levels and critical spares.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Business, Engineering Management or Project Management is an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years of mining maintenance and engineering experience, with at least 8 years in senior leadership.
• Demonstrated leadership of large-scale process plant and heavy mobile equipment fleet.
• Registration with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and Energy Regulation Board (ERB) or eligibility to register.

Required skills

• SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) work management, planning and scheduling.
• Reliability methods such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), criticality analysis and condition monitoring.
• Life-cycle costing for replacement, refurbishment and component change-out decisions.
