About the role
The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is seeking a Staff Assistant to support the Director of its Sub‑Regional Office in Lusaka. The role involves managing daily office operations, handling information flow, and providing high‑level secretarial and document‑processing services.
Key responsibilities
- Administer the Director’s office, coordinating priorities, workflow, and scheduling.
- Compile and analyse basic data from sources such as Umoja SAP, summarising findings for managerial review.
- Act as a communications link, conveying directives, reports and status updates between the Director and senior staff.
- Represent the Director as the first point of contact for internal and external senior officials.
- Screen, prioritise and route incoming correspondence, preparing background documents and identifying issues requiring managerial attention.
Required profile
- Proven experience in administrative or secretarial support within an international or governmental setting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
