Trainee Systems Engineer – Client Business Systems

About the role

This trainee position focuses on installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting enterprise servers and systems while delivering responsive technical assistance to client organisations. The role combines hands‑on system administration with client‑facing support and continuous improvement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and support enterprise servers and systems.
• Perform routine system administration, monitoring, patching and capacity planning.
• Respond to incidents, service requests and technical issues, troubleshooting hardware, OS and application problems.
• Support virtualization, storage, networking and monitoring platforms and verify system health after changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation, record incidents and update configuration inventories.
• Provide professional client support, communicate issues clearly and escalate SLA breaches.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration or technical support.
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux environments and supporting enterprise users.
• Familiarity with incident and service request management processes.
• Exposure to virtualization, backup, networking and monitoring technologies.
• Experience in a client‑facing or managed‑services environment is desirable.
