About the role
The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing component rebuild work and a team of Rebuild Technicians at the BIA Component Rebuild Centre of Kitwe. This position reports to the Component Rebuild Centre Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure component rebuild work quality in accordance with Komatsu and BIA standards.
- Manage, control and organise workshop labour and equipment through multiple shift schedules.
- Plan jobs together with the Production Manager to maximise utilisation of labour and equipment.
- Write detailed assessment and assembly reports for every workshop job.
- Maintain tools and equipment for maximum availability.
- Ensure staff adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
Required profile
- At least 8 years’ experience in a fully equipped REMAN workshop dealing with mining equipment components.
- Very good knowledge of mechanics, electricity and hydraulic/mechanical tools.
- In‑depth knowledge of Komatsu 860, 930 & 960 truck components and Komatsu mining shovel components.
- Hands‑on technician with strong problem‑solving and stress‑management abilities.
- Effective communicator with good reporting abilities in English.
- Firm and organised leadership skills; currently working for a Komatsu dealership is an advantage.
- Good IT knowledge – Excel, Word, Powerpoint – and ability to work with workshop manuals.
