Artisan Boilermaker – Maintenance & Fabrication

About the role

The Artisan Boilermaker will execute planned and unplanned maintenance tasks on a shift basis, ensuring safe and effective operation of plant equipment. This role focuses on heavy fabrication, welding, and repair activities across crushers, conveyor structures, and related steel components.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on conveyor steel structures, chutes, and crushers.
• Fit and replace liners, conduct thermal lancing of mantle liners, and carry out heavy‑duty steel repairs.
• Fabricate and install cable racking bends, offsets, and other custom metal components.
• Read and interpret schematic drawings and on‑site variations to guide fabrication work.
• Operate oxy‑acetylene cutting torches, CNC brake press, and plasma cutter for precise cuts.
• Provide training and development for Zambian team members.
• Assist with any additional duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Required skills

• MIG and TIG welding (including aluminium and cast iron).
• Vertical up and horizontal stick welding.
• Oxy‑acetylene cutting and oxy lancing.
• Air‑arc gouging, gas and gas‑less welding wires.
• Silver soldering and brazing.
• Experience with CNC brake press and plasma cutter.
• Heavy fabrication and pipe fitting.
• Knowledge of pre‑pinch rollers, guillotine, punch & shears, and band saw operations.
• Ability to read and work from fabrication drawings and schematics.
