About the role
The bCPAP Project Manager will lead the implementation of the Better Care for Small and Sick Newborns project in Zambia. This role provides strategic direction, coordination and oversight to improve neonatal outcomes through the introduction of bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (bCPAP) and strengthening referral systems across Lusaka, Central and Southern provinces.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the bCPAP implementation.
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, Vayu Global Health, donors and internal Save the Children teams (Health & Nutrition, Finance, Supply Chain, HR, MEAL, etc.).
- Oversee capacity‑building activities, mentorship and quality‑improvement processes for health workers.
- Strengthen referral and transfer systems for sick newborns.
- Ensure effective resource utilisation, timely decision‑making and achievement of project objectives.
- Monitor progress, report on outcomes and integrate bCPAP services into routine newborn care.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing health projects, preferably in neonatal or newborn care.
- Experience working with government ministries, donors and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership, coordination and reporting abilities.
- Ability to travel to district‑level health facilities within the project provinces.
