About the role
The Child Protection and Gender Technical Specialist will provide strategic direction, technical leadership and quality assurance for Save the Children Zambia’s child protection and gender equality programming. The role ensures that interventions are aligned with the Country Strategic Plan, Global Breakthroughs for Children and the organisation’s safeguarding policy.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of child protection and gender strategies in line with global and national frameworks.
- Integrate gender‑transformative and child‑sensitive approaches across health, education, child rights governance and social protection programmes.
- Provide technical input for policy advocacy on child marriage, gender‑based violence and safeguarding.
- Design evidence‑based child protection and gender components for proposals and concept notes.
- Support rollout of digital case management systems and integrated referral pathways.
- Build capacity of staff, partners and community structures through training and mentorship.
Required profile
- Proven experience designing and managing child protection and gender equality programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies, child marriage prevention and gender‑based violence response.
- Ability to lead multi‑sectoral teams and coordinate with partners and government stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on evidence‑based programming.
Required skills
- Experience with digital case management systems.
