Civil Engineer – Tailings Storage Facility (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Lumwana Mining Company is looking for a dedicated Civil Engineer to lead the construction of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and Water Storage Facility (WSF) for the Lumwana Expansion Project. This fixed‑term position reports to the Project Lead – LEP and focuses on delivering a world‑class TSF on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities for TSF, WSF, earthworks, concrete works, roads, utilities and related infrastructure.
• Manage contractors, subcontractors and construction teams to meet project schedules, specifications and contractual obligations.
• Ensure compliance with the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), site‑specific Tailings Management Systems and local regulations.
• Oversee embankment construction, TSF raises, filter zones, drainage, spillways and seepage control systems.
• Review survey data, construction records, quality control results and material compliance documentation.
• Monitor schedules, identify risks, implement mitigation measures and report progress.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, safety audits and quality reviews.
• Coordinate interfaces between contractors, engineers, surveyors, quality teams and operations personnel.

Required profile

• Qualified civil engineer with experience in large‑scale mining infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to supervise multi‑disciplinary construction teams.
• Strong understanding of tailings management standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing contracts, schedules and risk mitigation.
• Commitment to safety, quality and zero‑harm principles.
