Condition Monitoring Technician

About the role
The Condition Monitoring Technician will perform inspections and data collection on plant equipment using approved condition monitoring technologies. The role supports reliability decisions by providing accurate asset condition reports to improve equipment availability and maintainability.
Key responsibilities
- Comply with all Health, Safety and Environment policies, conduct pre‑task risk assessments and report hazards.
- Execute scheduled condition monitoring tasks, including vibration data collection using ADASH or equivalent.
- Conduct laser shaft alignment and balancing activities under supervision.
- Perform Non‑Destructive Testing such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and ultrasonic thickness testing.
- Support thermographic inspections where applicable and carry out shutdown supplementary inspections on critical equipment.
- Upload and validate collected data into approved reporting systems and prepare basic condition reports.
- Escalate critical findings immediately to the Technical Specialist or Reliability team.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of field data and inspection records.
- Follow up on condition monitoring recommendations, confirm work order creation and provide feedback to planners.
- Support verification of corrective actions during post‑maintenance inspections.
- Participate in technical training programs and maintain competency in vibration analysis (Level I minimum).
- Contribute to knowledge sharing within the condition monitoring team.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering field.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with qualifications verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on maintenance and condition monitoring experience.
Required skills
- Vibration data collection using ADASH or equivalent instruments.
- Laser shaft alignment and balancing.
- Non‑Destructive Testing (MPI, DPI, ultrasonic thickness testing).
- Thermographic inspection support.
- Data analysis using Microsoft Office packages.
