Coordinator, Dewatering

About the role

The Dewatering Coordinator supports the Mining Superintendent by leading a multi‑skilled shift team responsible for the operation, maintenance, construction and relocation of all dewatering assets, including pit pumps, dam pontoon pumps and flocculation/coagulation facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full statutory, health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance and report incidents promptly.
• Oversee safe and efficient maintenance, construction and monitoring of dewatering equipment to maximise reliability and uptime.
• Perform equipment isolation for maintenance in line with supervisory and legal requirements.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and monitor KPIs such as maintenance timeliness, water‑quality compliance (ZEMA), water‑buffer levels and HSE performance.
• Conduct accurate shift handovers, reporting equipment status, tasks performed and focus items.
• Plan and assist with layout of work on new projects, ensuring maximum plant availability.
• Identify safety hazards, report or rectify them, and attend daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Motivate the team, prioritize activities and hold self‑accountable for results.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate; minimum Diploma in a Mechanical discipline (degree preferred).
• Member of EIZ and registered with ERB.
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in mine dewatering or a similar environment.
• Proven ability to work across disciplines to minimise plant disruption.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pumping systems and piping networks.
• Understanding of water‑quality compliance requirements (e.g., ZEMA).
• Experience with equipment isolation and safe maintenance procedures.
• Familiarity with HSE policies and incident reporting.
