Expediting Officer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Expediting Officer to ensure the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and documentation for both local and international procurements. The role involves close coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to meet project timelines and cost targets.

Key responsibilities

• Track and monitor purchase order status to guarantee on‑time delivery.
• Communicate regularly with suppliers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to follow up on order progress.
• Coordinate shipping documentation such as invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Ensure compliance with import/export and customs clearance procedures.
• Prepare expediting reports highlighting order status, delays, and corrective actions.
• Work with procurement, stores, and finance teams to align delivery schedules and priorities.
• Facilitate communication between suppliers and project teams regarding shipment or production issues.
• Verify delivery timelines against contractual lead times and escalate delays as needed.
• Assist in vendor performance evaluation based on delivery reliability.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Freight Forwarding.
• Professional certification or membership with ZILT or CIPS (preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in expediting, freight forwarding, or logistics coordination.
• Strong understanding of shipping and import/export documentation processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and follow‑up abilities.
