Finance Officer - Petroleum Industry

About the role

A finance officer position is open in Lusaka, Zambia, within the petroleum industry. The role covers financial reporting, statutory compliance, banking and payments, and general administration, and requires a candidate based in Lusaka.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and accounting records.
• Handle VAT returns and related statutory requirements, and prepare and submit ERB returns while keeping regulatory records.
• Manage banking, payments, cash transactions and bank reconciliations, including online banking and banking software.
• Manage NAPSA, NHIMA and Workers' Compensation submissions.
• Maintain financial and administrative records in hard and electronic formats.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable, cash-flow monitoring and general administration.
• Provide customer service and sales support where required, and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

Required profile

• ACCA, ZICA or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in the petroleum industry.
• Experience with ERB, NAPSA, NHIMA and Workers' Compensation requirements.
• Strong record-keeping, communication, organisational and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of VAT, financial reporting, banking and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Up to date with current technology trends and able to adapt to new digital tools.
