Payables & Tax Accountant

About the role

A company based in Kitwe, Zambia is looking for a Payables and Tax Accountant to manage its creditors and statutory tax functions. The position is full time and requires a candidate based in Kitwe or willing to relocate.

Key responsibilities

• Creditors / Accounts Payable: capture invoices, reconcile supplier statements and prepare payment schedules
• Resolve supplier queries and discrepancies promptly
• Track imports and maintain records of imported goods
• Process GRNs, supplier invoices and ensure 3-way matching (LPO, GRN, invoice)
• Prepare weekly and monthly creditors aging reports for management
• Taxation and statutory compliance: file monthly VAT, withholding tax (WHT) and rental tax returns
• Handle PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, workers compensation and other statutory returns and payments

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as ZICA, ACCA or CIMA (fully or partly qualified); partly qualified candidates must be pursuing Advisory Level (Level III)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Member of ZICA at Licentiate or Graduate level
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing Creditors and tax compliance in Zambia
