Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will act as the key governance and control function within Sandvik’s Zambia finance organisation, bridging executive finance leadership and day‑to‑day accounting. The role safeguards the entity’s financial integrity through accurate reporting, robust internal controls and strict compliance with IFRS, group policies and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and Sandvik Group Accounting Instructions.
• Analyse general ledger postings, perform reconciliations and ensure balance‑sheet integrity.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, address audit findings and support ICFR certifications.
• Oversee direct and indirect tax matters, including VAT, withholding and corporate income tax, and act as primary contact for tax authorities.
• Maintain and test financial and operational controls within the Workiva GRC platform, managing remediation plans.
• Govern customer contracts for correct revenue recognition (IFRS 15) and related tax and control considerations.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Sandvik Group accounting policies.
• Familiarity with Zambian statutory reporting and tax legislation.
• Experience in coordinating audits and implementing internal control frameworks.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and provide reliable financial information for decision‑making.

Required skills

• Workiva (GRC platform) for control documentation and testing.
• Proficiency with IFRS standards.
