Fire Suppression Technician

About the role

Sandvik is seeking a Fire Suppression Technician to provide technical services on fire suppression systems for heavy‑duty mobile equipment. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining both mechanical and electrical components at customer sites in the mining sector.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect equipment to verify performance and identify faults.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical or electrical issues, replacing defective parts as needed.
• Test repaired equipment to confirm it meets original manufacturer specifications.
• Commission new fire suppression equipment and provide on‑site training.
• Prepare accurate time records, technical and failure reports, and parts lists.
• Stay updated on industry developments, product changes, and best technical practices.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate; tertiary education in engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a mining or engineering environment.
• Proactive, self‑starter with strong analytical and time‑management abilities.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Physical and medical fitness to operate in a mining environment; driver’s licence is an advantage.
