Freight Forwarding Controller

About the role

The Freight Forwarding Controller is responsible for coordinating daily loading and off‑loading activities, ensuring accurate data flow between the warehouse and reporting systems, and maintaining high service standards for clients and vendors. This role plays a key part in monitoring cargo movement, meeting KPIs, and supporting the overall logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan daily loading/off‑loading activities and submit the schedule to the warehouse team.
• Consolidate and verify warehouse data, entering it into the system for reporting purposes.
• Compile and verify stock/tracking reports for clients and distribute them daily as required.
• Send all pre‑alerts and transport documents to relevant parties and file them 100% in Alfresco.
• Respond to client and vendor queries, providing prompt and professional solutions.
• Monitor commodities in transit to ensure all KPIs are met until cargo is off‑loaded at the destination.
• Coordinate daily capacity requirements with the capacity team to manage truck turnaround times and KPIs.
• Conduct physical stock counts, reconcile results with the Stocks Controller and appointed inspection company, and report to the client.
• Manage Proof of Delivery (POD) processes.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with merit or higher in Mathematics and English.
• Diploma in Transport and Logistics.
• Proficiency in computer applications (computer literate).
• Current paid‑up membership with the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (ZCILT).
• One year of experience in warehousing and logistics is an added advantage.
