Google Cloud Security Engineer

About the role

Ali Tech is seeking a remote Google Cloud Security Engineer on a contract basis. The role focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining security controls across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments, ensuring robust protection for client workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Assess GCP environments for security risks and recommend mitigations.
• Configure Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and enforce least‑privilege access.
• Implement network and application security policies, including firewalls, VPCs and VPNs.
• Monitor security alerts, logs and incidents using Cloud Logging and Security Command Center.
• Collaborate with cloud architects and DevOps teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct security reviews, support compliance initiatives and document security standards.
• Respond to vulnerabilities and incidents, providing remediation guidance.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in cybersecurity, risk management and security best practices.
• Experience securing APIs, containers, micro‑services and cloud‑native applications.
• Hands‑on expertise in network security concepts such as firewalls, VPCs, subnetting and secure connectivity.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, contract‑based setting.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting controls and collaborating with stakeholders.

Required skills

• Google Cloud IAM, Cloud KMS, Cloud Armor, Security Command Center, Cloud Logging and Monitoring.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
• Network security components: VPC, VPN, firewalls, subnetting.
