Head of Operations

About the role

Golden Star Car Hire is seeking a dynamic Head of Operations to lead daily activities across its Lusaka and Copperbelt locations. The role oversees the entire fleet, ensuring vehicles are maintained, compliant and operating efficiently while managing a team of mechanics and drivers.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate operational staff, including mechanics and drivers.
• Manage fleet maintenance, performance analysis, record‑keeping and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee vehicle certifications, tracking systems and risk analysis.
• Prepare daily operational, financial and performance reports for senior management.
• Onboard, evaluate and manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
• Conduct operational cost analysis and assist in budget preparation.
• Ensure safety, efficiency and compliance standards are consistently met.

Required profile

• Diploma or higher in Business, Operations Management, Transport & Logistics or a related field.
• Valid driver’s licence with at least two years of driving experience.
• Experience in logistics and fleet management is preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently with high integrity and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in operational reporting and data analysis.
