Health and Nutrition Officer

About the role

Action Against Hunger USA is seeking a Health and Nutrition Officer to support the implementation of nutrition and health interventions at the field level across its program countries. The officer will work closely with community structures, health facilities and other sector officers to ensure integrated, high‑quality services for vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Support management of acute malnutrition, MIYCAN, MAMi, Integrated Case Management of Childhood Illnesses (ICCM) and social‑behavior‑change communication at health facilities and outreach sites.
• Supervise daily implementation of activities, monitor performance indicators and ensure they meet sphere standards.
• Provide technical support to VHTs, care‑group volunteers, health workers and district teams, including capacity‑building and training.
• Coordinate with WASH and Food Security officers to integrate multi‑sector activities.
• Identify and verify programme participants, conduct field monitoring, report on programme progress and troubleshoot implementation challenges.
• Facilitate information exchange and coordination with local government, NGOs, international aid organisations and the programme manager.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in nutrition, public health, medicine or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably at community or health‑facility level.
• Strong understanding of malnutrition management protocols and integrated health interventions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and supervise field teams.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of acute malnutrition management, MIYCAN, MAMi, ICCM and SBCC approaches.
• Field monitoring and data verification.
• Capacity‑building and training of community health volunteers.
• Coordination of multi‑sector programmes.
