About the role
The Health and Nutrition Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance, and strategic oversight for integrated health and nutrition interventions. The role ensures that services are evidence‑based, align with national and international standards, and reach vulnerable groups such as children under five, pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, refugees and host communities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical oversight of CMAM/IMAM, MNCH/RMNCH, and primary health care programmes, ensuring compliance with national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards, and MoH protocols.
- Design, adapt, and contextualise protocols and SOPs, integrating nutrition, health, WASH and protection components.
- Supervise implementation at Mantapala Rural Health Centre, health posts and community platforms, guaranteeing functional OTP and inpatient services, 24/7 delivery where required, and effective referral pathways.
- Provide capacity‑building through competency‑based training, on‑the‑job coaching and mentorship for health workers, nutrition teams and community volunteers.
- Manage supply chain and commodity forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring to prevent stock‑outs of RUTF, therapeutic milks and medical kits.
- Oversee MEAL activities, ensuring accurate data collection via DHIS2 and CMAM/IMAM databases, analysing key indicators and leading programme reviews.
- Represent the organization in health and nutrition cluster meetings, technical working groups and coordination forums with MoH, UN agencies and local partners.
Required profile
- Proven experience in leading health and nutrition programmes in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
- Strong knowledge of national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards, and ECHO requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise multidisciplinary teams, conduct field monitoring and provide mentorship.
- Experience in designing and delivering training for health and nutrition staff.
- Excellent coordination skills with government bodies, UN agencies and NGOs.
