Hydrogeological Technician

About the role

The Hydrogeological Technician will support the hydrogeologist in daily field operations, ensuring accurate data collection and safe groundwater management at the open‑pit mine. This role involves hands‑on work at drill sites and coordination with various mining departments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with field inspections, drill supervision, borehole construction and grouting activities.
• Collect and input monitoring, flow and hydraulic test data into databases.
• Mark geophysical survey traverses, manage bush‑clearing and pit inspections.
• Support installation and maintenance of borehole infrastructure and hydrogeological mapping.
• Report and investigate groundwater incidents and ensure mine safety from a groundwater perspective.

Required profile

• Methodical approach to routine tasks and problem solving.
• Strong team ethic, self‑motivation and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to undertake occasional night or shift work.
• Clean criminal record and valid manual driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Computer literate – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
• Basic health and safety knowledge and basic first aid.
• Valid manual driver’s licence.
