Hydrogeologist

About the role

We are looking for a Hydrogeologist to support the Principal Hydrogeologist in delivering hydrogeological activities across our mining operations. The role involves high‑quality data collection, site supervision and implementation of groundwater investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Apply geological knowledge to assess rock types, structures and their impact on groundwater occurrence and movement.
• Interpret maps, geographic data and historical information to develop conceptual groundwater models.
• Perform groundwater flow modelling and maintain existing models.
• Conduct field investigations, design and commission boreholes, and carry out monitoring and test‑pumping programmes.
• Sample and measure groundwater and surface water, and oversee drilling operations.
• Prepare clear reports for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Provide technical advice to stakeholders while adhering to strict health‑and‑safety standards.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of relevant experience in mine water balance, storm‑water control, large‑scale dewatering and depressurisation systems.
• Experience managing drilling and test‑pumping programmes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology or a related field.
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia, Zambian citizenship and a valid manual driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software.
• Experience with air‑percussion and diamond drilling techniques.
• Groundwater flow modelling and model maintenance.
• Borehole design and commissioning.
• Test‑pumping programme implementation and supervision.
