IT Director – Global IT Leadership

About the role

The IT Director leads IPA’s global IT function, shaping strategy, governance and service delivery for a distributed, multi‑country organization. This senior leadership role focuses on building a high‑performing team, ensuring secure, reliable and user‑centered technology services, and aligning IT decisions with the mission of reducing poverty.

Key responsibilities

• Define, maintain and adapt IPA’s IT strategy to organizational priorities, resource constraints and compliance obligations.
• Own the IT governance framework, including security, access management, data governance, acceptable use, vendor management and emerging technologies.
• Ensure policies are practical, enforceable and compliant with regulatory and donor requirements across all country offices.
• Advise senior leadership on technology risks, investment decisions and compliance in clear, non‑technical terms.
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI and automation and recommend responsible, mission‑aligned adoption pathways.
• Manage, develop and retain a team of six IT professionals, providing clear direction, feedback and growth opportunities.
• Recruit to fill capability gaps and build a team structure with clear domain ownership and accountability.

Required profile

• Proven senior IT leadership experience in a complex, international or multi‑site environment.
• Strong ability to translate organizational needs into technology priorities and governance frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of advising non‑technical senior leaders.
• Track record of building and developing high‑performing IT teams.
