Mine Blasting Supervisor

About the role

First Quantum is seeking an experienced Mine Blasting Supervisor to lead and coordinate blasting operations at the Sentinel Mine. You will oversee blasting personnel, manage resources and materials, and ensure all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with production schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day blasting works and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Monitor and manage the explosive contractor, ensuring quality standards and correct loading procedures.
• Verify MMU truck calibrations and charging procedures meet specifications.
• Check for double‑booking on explosive contractor loading sheets and confirm dip sheets are accurate.
• Conduct on‑bench QA/QC activities related to over‑charging and under‑charging.
• Compile and file blasting reports and data.
• Ensure efficient execution of all blasting activities in accordance with operating policies.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and constructive feedback to subordinates.
• Coordinate resource allocation (PPE, gloves, disposables, etc.) according to the overall blasting resource plan.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a blaster in a mining environment.
• Experience in open‑pit mining is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of applicable sleeving methods.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Axxis Electronics.
