Mining Optimisation Consultant – 3‑Month Contract in Zambia

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mining Optimisation Consultant for a three‑month, site‑based FIFO assignment in Zambia’s Copperbelt. The role is hands‑on, focusing on diagnosing production constraints in an underground copper mine and delivering tangible improvements that are embedded on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical diagnostics across the underground production value chain, including mining methods, cycle design, drill‑and‑blast, cleaning/tramming, hoisting and logistics.
• Analyse equipment availability and utilisation to identify bottlenecks.
• Design and implement practical production optimisation interventions.
• Engage with production crews, supervisors and senior mine leadership to drive change.
• Coach line management to sustain improvements and ensure strong project governance.
• Maintain safety leadership and comply with site and statutory requirements.

Required profile

• 15+ years of underground mining production experience, preferably in a senior line‑management role such as Mine Manager or Production Manager.
• 5+ years of optimisation consulting experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Experience in underground copper or base‑metal mining, ideally within the Zambian Copperbelt.
• Relevant mining engineering qualification or equivalent technical degree.
• Valid passport, underground medical fitness, yellow‑fever certificate and ability to obtain required clearances.
