Packaging Manager – Lead Production & Process Excellence

About the role

The Packaging Manager will lead the Packaging Department, overseeing people, plant, processes and systems to ensure product quality and efficient output. You will be responsible for driving safety, performance and continuous improvement across all packaging operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, healthy, risk‑free working environment and ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation.
• Manage human resources: develop employees, foster a positive industrial relations climate, implement performance management and talent pipelines.
• Oversee plant, process and systems using VPO tools, monitor production budgets and optimise shift plans.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers, ensuring conformance to specifications and standards.
• Lead packaging projects, coordinate logistics, support engineering integrity and drive technical and VPO strategies.
• Ensure maintenance integrity, asset reliability and continuous improvement of packaging efficiency, quality and loss reduction.
• Implement packaging CAPEX projects and ZBB initiatives to enhance productivity and plant reliability.

Required profile

• BSc or Engineering degree.
• 2–3 years experience as a Unit Manager or Packaging Engineer.
• Completed on‑the‑job training of at least 3 months (ideally 6–9 months).
• Packaging traineeship is an advantage.
