Network Performance & SLA Engineer

About the role

MTN Zambia is seeking a Network Performance and SLA Engineer to join its team in Solwezi. The role focuses on planning, optimizing and assuring the performance of the mobile network to meet current and future requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and support network coverage, capacity and performance optimisation.
• Support installation, integration and upgrading of network sites and equipment in line with MTN standards and SLAs.
• Conduct new site acceptance for BTS installations delivered by Managed Services Contractors.
• Monitor network performance, efficiency and availability using relevant tools and provide actionable insights.
• Coordinate and support network troubleshooting activities across active and passive infrastructure teams.
• Provide second‑level technical support to internal teams and liaise with external contractors and partners.
• Support Enterprise and Commercial teams with network assurance and complex customer solutions.
• Monitor and track network maintenance and upgrade activities against agreed schedules.
• Prepare and present weekly, monthly and ad‑hoc network performance and SLA reports.
• Research emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending optimisation initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance network performance, service quality and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate with at least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or a related field.
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years’ hands‑on experience in mobile communications, networking and wireless installations.
• Proven experience in LAN and wireless technologies.
