Operations Engineer – Solar Power Plant

About the role

The Operations Engineer will lead the day‑to‑day operation of a solar PV generation asset, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient performance. Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Solar Operations, the role provides technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams and drives continuous improvement of plant availability and energy yield.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operation, monitoring, and control of solar PV and associated generation assets via SCADA, EMS and other monitoring systems.
• Manage switching, commissioning, energisation, shutdowns and restoration activities in line with approved procedures.
• Analyse performance indicators such as availability, performance ratio, CUF, inverter efficiency and energy losses, and initiate corrective actions.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and operational incidents, and develop improvement strategies.
• Plan, schedule and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, coordinating electrical, mechanical, SCADA and contractor teams.
• Oversee maintenance contracts, spare‑parts management and budgeting, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Provide technical guidance to operations technicians, contractors and support staff during outages, major maintenance and emergencies.
• Support commissioning of new equipment, plant upgrades and expansion projects, and maintain accurate maintenance records and asset data.

Required profile

• Proven technical leadership experience in solar or renewable‑energy plant operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex maintenance programmes.
• Strong analytical skills for performance monitoring and root‑cause investigations.
