Operations Manager – Fuel Business

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day‑to‑day activities of a fuel business in Lusaka. The role requires strong technical expertise in fuel handling, bowser management and loss control, as well as the ability to coordinate drivers, customers and internal technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end fuel operations, ensuring safe and compliant tanker loading and off‑loading at depots and customer sites.
• Manage mobile fuel dispensing units (bowsers), including scheduling, maintenance and the installation of meters, pumps and pipelines.
• Communicate directly with drivers to track routes and collaborate with customers to confirm delivery schedules.
• Implement controls to minimise product losses such as temperature variance, spillage or pilferage and ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
• Supervise operational staff, manage third‑party vendors and prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports covering deliveries, losses and equipment status.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in fuel or petroleum operations, including tanker loading/off‑loading and bowser management.
• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving ability, capacity to work under pressure and willingness to be available for urgent matters outside standard hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Odoo or Tally.
• Practical knowledge of meters, pumps and pipeline systems used in fuel dispensing and storage.
