Project Manager – Commercial Construction (QSR)

About the role

Hungry Lion is seeking a Project Manager to support the execution and management of commercial construction and refurbishment projects within the quick‑service restaurant (QSR) sector across Zambia. The role works closely with the Regional Construction Project Manager and coordinates with contractors, architects, landlords, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance.
• Coordinate construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects from planning through completion.
• Prepare project scopes, budgets, quotations, and resource requirements.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, landlords, suppliers, and local authorities for approvals and smooth execution.
• Monitor contractor performance, timelines, and material utilization.
• Resolve on‑site technical and operational challenges efficiently.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports, and stakeholder updates.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and proper use of assets.

Required profile

• Degree in Project Management, Building Sciences, Civil/Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Membership or affiliation with a recognized professional body (e.g., EIZ, ZIQS, PMI) is a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in construction, retail development, or project management.
• Practical exposure to QSR or commercial retail construction projects is highly desirable.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively.
