Public Health & Wellness Officer

About the role

The Wellness Officer will support the Wellness Coordinator in promoting holistic health and wellness across the organisation. This people‑focused role involves designing, delivering and tracking outreach programmes that encourage both physical and mental well‑being among employees.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and implementing health‑promotion programmes, fitness activities and health‑screening events.
• Use toolbox talks, lunch‑and‑learn sessions, newsletters and social media to raise awareness and drive participation.
• Compile and distribute IEC content and marketing materials for wellness initiatives.
• Track participation, maintain confidential records and generate regular reports on programme outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge of mining and health industry trends to inform programme design.
• Build and sustain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education; a degree in health, public health, wellness promotion or a related field is advantageous.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in health promotion or wellness programming.
• Strong communication skills, creativity and the ability to motivate groups.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with content management systems.
