QAQC Engineer – Construction

About the role

The QAQC Engineer will ensure that construction activities meet all quality, safety, environmental and regulatory standards. This role supports project delivery through rigorous quality management and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement project‑specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Conduct quality audits, inspections and witness field and laboratory testing during construction.
• Maintain complete, auditable QA/QC documentation and support project close‑out and handover.
• Identify non‑conformances, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, and lead root‑cause investigations.
• Liaise with engineers, supervisors, contractors and consultants on QA/QC matters and participate in progress meetings.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 certificate and a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline.
• Professional registration with a recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in earthworks and construction, including bulk earthworks, embankments, drainage systems and field quality control.
• Experience managing QA/QC for large projects, preferably in mining or high‑consequence infrastructure.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering and earthworks principles.
• Construction QA/QC processes, ITPs, hold points, non‑conformances and as‑built records.
• Root cause analysis, technical queries, design‑change and Management of Change procedures.
• Clear technical writing, document control and stakeholder communication.
