Refrigeration Technician

About the role

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems. The role involves ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install and commission refrigeration and air‑conditioning equipment according to specifications, connecting electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant components.
• Perform scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance, and cleaning of compressors, condensers, evaporators, filters, fans, and related parts.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant system faults, repair or replace defective components, and verify correct operation after repairs.
• Handle, recover, store, and charge refrigerants safely, detect leaks, and maintain accurate usage records.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits, wiring, switches, relays, thermostats, sensors, and control systems using appropriate diagnostic tools.
• Monitor system pressures, temperatures, energy consumption, and overall efficiency, recommending adjustments to improve performance.
• Follow occupational health and safety procedures, use PPE, and keep the work environment clean and safe.
• Complete service reports, maintenance logs, and communicate major faults to supervisors.

Required profile

• Proven experience with refrigeration and air‑conditioning installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and control system troubleshooting.
• Ability to work safely with refrigerants and adhere to environmental regulations.
• Attention to detail for accurate documentation and reporting.
