Stores Lead & Maintenance Inspector

About the role

The Stores Lead & Maintenance Inspector is responsible for overseeing inventory control, material handling and routine maintenance inspections across the facility. This role ensures that stock levels are optimal, records are accurate and equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Manage minimum and maximum stock levels, conduct cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with ERP records.
• Inspect incoming materials for quantity, quality and damage, and match them to purchase orders.
• Organise, label and apply FIFO rotation to all goods, issue parts and tools, and maintain accurate movement logs.
• Keep the store area clean, secure and compliant with safety regulations; generate inventory reports and coordinate disposal of obsolete items.
• Process purchase requests, POs, RFQs and RFPs, record vendor information and maintain contract files.
• Update inventory receipts, stock levels and new spare parts in the FIXX system from work orders and cycle counts.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural) and machinery, develop preventive‑maintenance schedules and track work orders in the CMMS.
• Record inspection findings, evaluate MTTR and MTBF, and verify that maintenance work complies with engineering standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and qualifications registered with ZAQA.
• Minimum two years of experience in engineering stores, spare‑parts management or maintenance environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities; able to work in a fast‑paced setting.
