Safety and Environment Controller

About the role

The Safety and Environment Controller supports operational and line management to maintain a robust Occupational Health and Safety system. The role ensures compliance with safety and environmental legislation, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement across the plant, wet depot, and warehouse.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain a safe work environment and monitor implementation of the VPO Safety and Environment Pillars.
• Conduct safety and environmental audits, risk assessments, and loss‑waste analyses.
• Identify, report, and close safety and environment incidents and observations using Credit360 and the Safety App.
• Track leading safety and environment KPIs, develop action plans, and support corrective interventions.
• Promote safety and environmental awareness through programs, World Safety/Environment Day activities, and alerts.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and propose preventive actions.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Ability to analyse data, track KPIs, and develop improvement plans.
• Excellent communication skills to raise awareness and share alerts.
