Safety Engineer

About the role

Our client, a multinational engineering and construction organisation, is looking for a Safety Engineer to lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) management on major road and bridge infrastructure projects. The role will act as the central authority for all site safety operations, ensuring compliance with international HSE protocols, local regulations and corporate safety frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in establishing and enforcing the EHS management system, inspecting contractor safety production systems and reporting to supervising engineers.
• Identify project hazards, supervise construction units’ hazard identification work, review records and preventive measures, and compile safety assurance systems covering civil construction, environmental protection, fire safety, M&E safety, transportation and site appearance.
• Review safety management systems and special plans submitted by the construction department, provide feedback and forward approvals to the chief engineer.
• Ensure contractors conduct safety and technical briefings, maintain pre‑job safety training records, and develop machinery and vehicle operating procedures.
• Conduct daily site inspections, monitor safety, civilized construction and potential hazards, log issues and supervise corrective actions.
• Develop and conduct emergency rescue plans and drills, supervise construction units in preparing and testing these plans.
• Participate in establishing the project safety education system, monitor implementation, sign safety responsibility agreements and assist in organising training programmes.
• Prepare professional safety reports and communicate findings to senior engineering staff.

Required profile

• Qualified Safety Engineer with proven competence in leading HSE management on large infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of international HSE protocols, local statutory regulations and corporate safety frameworks.
• Experience in risk assessment, safety audits, incident prevention and workforce safety training.
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, conduct site inspections and manage emergency preparedness activities.
