Scrap / Salvage Yard Supervisor

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a proactive Scrap / Salvage Yard Supervisor to lead daily operations in a high‑volume industrial yard. You will ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance while managing a team and coordinating material handling activities.

Key responsibilities

• Delegate daily tasks to the workforce and monitor performance.
• Maintain safety standards at all times within the work area.
• Keep accurate records and log books to ensure statutory compliance.
• Manage contractor trucks, securing loads and overseeing arrivals.
• Control material disposal, segregation, and proper yard delineation.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the coordinator.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience as a supervisor.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a boilermaker.
• Grade 12 Certificate and a Craft Certificate or equivalent, certified by ZAQA.
• Strong managerial and communication skills, adaptable to company requirements.

Required skills

• Mechanical knowledge of scrap materials.
• High‑level fabrication skills.
• Ability to operate a forklift or TLB.
• Knowledge of lifting and rigging procedures.
• Awareness of all safety rules and regulations.
