Seed Quality Technician

About the role

The Seed Quality Technician will oversee all quality‑assurance activities for seed products at a processing plant. Working closely with production teams, the technician ensures that seed quality standards are met from intake through final packaging.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a safety‑first culture among personnel, contractors and visitors.
• Provide technical advice to plant supervisors and operators to maintain high seed quality during processing.
• Implement and maintain the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS).
• Collect reliable data for continuous improvement of processing activities.
• Monitor production processes from receiving to final product to ensure quality standards.
• Generate reports and incident rates for quality program evaluation.
• Support internal and external audits, trend analysis, non‑conformance investigations and corrective actions.
• Sample grower seeds at warehouse intake and conduct pre‑processing defect tests.
• Perform in‑process checks (defects, weight, stitching, labeling) and rework defective batches.
• Act as custodian for official SCCI labels and sample final product for laboratory certification.
• Assist with grow‑out planting, data collection, and field quality processes as needed.

Required profile

• Degree in Agricultural Science or a related field.
• Valid Seed Inspector’s License and membership in the Agricultural Institute of Zambia.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar seed‑quality role.
• Practical data‑analysis skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Agile mindset with a results‑oriented approach.
