Senior Road Safety Campaigns & Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role
NTU International is looking for a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural‑change campaigns across the ECOWAS region. The role supports the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance project, focusing on inclusive policies and protection of vulnerable road users.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement road safety awareness and behavioural‑change campaigns.
- Provide technical assistance on communication strategies, public outreach and stakeholder engagement.
- Integrate vulnerable‑user considerations into transport policies and programmes.
- Advise on gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches for women, youth, persons with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists and other groups.
- Develop communication materials, tools and public information campaigns.
- Contribute to road safety studies, analytical reports and policy recommendations.
- Coordinate with transport authorities, NGOs, educational institutions, media and development partners.
- Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities.
- Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of outreach activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in road safety campaigns, public awareness programmes or social‑inclusion projects.
- At least 7 years of experience specifically in road safety behavioural‑change communication.
- Proven experience working on transport or development projects in developing countries, preferably Sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
