About the role
The Superintendent, Mechanical will lead day‑to‑day mechanical engineering operations for the mobile equipment and continuous improvement section of the Smelter Plant at Kansanshi Mine Plc. The role ensures safe, efficient production while driving the proficiency framework across the smelter.
Key responsibilities
- Adhere to all health, safety, environment, quality, finance and HR policies and regulations.
- Assist in improving the mechanical department’s organisational structure and oversee recruitment.
- Develop, review and manage departmental targets and performance results.
- Review mechanical spares ordering to minimise operational downtime.
- Assess mechanical asset inventory and develop maintenance systems to meet availability goals.
- Prepare operating and capital refurbishment budgets for mechanical assets.
- Schedule and execute periodic refurbishments to maintain equipment integrity.
- Support commissioning of equipment and systems with the Operational Superintendent and project teams.
- Oversee planning and execution of routine mobile equipment maintenance shutdowns.
- Monitor mechanical engineering strategy alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure mechanical resources follow sound management principles for cost‑effective maintenance.
- Maintain compliance with engineering standards and take corrective actions for non‑compliance.
- Lead, mentor and foster a continuous‑improvement culture within the department.
