Trade Promotion and Political Officer

About the role

The Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka is seeking a full‑time Trade Promotion and Political Officer to support its work in Zambia and, from November 2026, Zimbabwe. The role focuses on promoting Swedish economic interests, especially in mining, transport and energy, while also providing political analysis and public diplomacy support.

Key responsibilities

• Organise trade events, delegations and networking activities for Swedish companies.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities and Swedish stakeholders.
• Monitor, analyse and report on political and economic developments in Zambia and Zimbabwe.
• Contribute to communication, event planning and public diplomacy initiatives.
• Collaborate with other embassy sections and external Swedish entities (Team Sweden).

Required profile

• University degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Law or a related field.
• Minimum three months experience in trade promotion, diplomacy or international affairs.
• Experience organising international events and delegations.
• Strong organisational abilities and proven project‑leadership skills.
• Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills in English.
